What: A free seminar to help those who are challenged with caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's, dementia or other diseases requiring long-term care.
Our seminar is for family members who are caring for their elderly loved ones. Many of these caregivers feel isolated and alone and do not know where to turn for help with the day-to-day issues involved in caregiving. Our goal is to help family caregivers recognize the signs of burnout and to be proactive in setting goals to cope with it. With community resources, support groups, long-term care alternatives, legal support and financial strategies, families can equip themselves with the necessary tools to provide greater care for their loved ones.
Topics covered include:
 What is Caregiver Burnout?
 Avoiding Burnout
 Local resources for Caregivers
Protecting the elderly from identity theft
Power of attorneys, living wills, DNRs
Avoiding the pitfalls of long term care insurance
Why: Even though there are many community resources available to them, many families fail to avail themselves of those resources for various reasons caregiver guilt, isolation, lack of financial resources, fear of letting go or fear of the unknown. Caregivers who donÂt get enough support often burnout and begin to encounter emotional, mental, physical and personal problems.
